Hormonise Information Sheet

Hormonise contains the active ingredient Chaste Berry (Vitex Agnus-castus) which has a potent effect on the pituitary gland.

The original Hormonise is one of Britains finest natural veterinary formulas. Hormonise is also the option of choice because it protects those that administer medicines from serious health risk exposure. Chaste Berry has been in use for centuries as a reliable remedy, balancing and regulating the female hormonal system. It gently and naturally, but effectively supports the normal functioning of the pituitary gland, correcting hormonal disturbances. Support of the progesterone level is extremely helpful in counteracting irritability and unpredictability that can happen with mares "in season".

Its traditional uses are:

  • As a specific remedy for mood changes, anxiety, nervous tension, and physical discomfort related to estrous cycles.
  • To support progesterone production.
  • To regulate and balance female hormonal cycles.
  • To support fertility.
  • As long term care for the treatment/prevention of non-cancerous ovarian and mammary cysts.
  • Hormonal adjustment of spayed mares.

Historically Chaste Berry has been used reliably for these primary purposes.

  • Restoration of the health of the pituitary gland.
  • Shrinking of non-cancerous tumors and cysts throughout the body.
  • Treatment for behavior and attitude problems based on hormonal imbalance.
  • Promote reproductive health.
  • Primary maintenance for the symptoms of Cushing's syndrome.
  • In geldings where hormone imbalance can produce unwanted aggression or sexual behavior.

SUGGESTED USE: SHAKE WELL AND POUR OVER FEED

All conditions are generally treated with at least a minimum single dose per day, calculated at 10ml per 200 pounds. Many vets add 10-20ml per day to the minimum during the first 3-6 months if the symptoms are serious. For example: if a Cushing's horse has started to lose their vision. (For Cushing's symptoms it is crucial that the horse receive their dose of Hormonise every day. Otherwise their recovery process quickly loses momentum.) Using Hormonise for "hormonal adjustment" requires simply a single dose per day based on 10ml per 200pounds for the first 2-3 months until all behavioral and attitude problems are gone. Then the animal can usually maintain their progress by getting the Hormonise just 3 weeks out of each month. Or using ½ the loading dose every day. Because the Hormonise is working directly on the health of the pituitary gland and is not hormone replacement therapy, it is not necessary to time a week off specifically with the estrus cycle. It may be used safely for the first few weeks of pregnancy to maintain progesterone stability and ensure that the pregnancy is off to a good start.
